Classification Of Deep Hole Machining

Dec 17, 2021

Deep hole processing can be divided into general deep hole processing (drilling, boring, etc.), precision deep hole processing (line grinding, rolling, etc.) and electric deep hole processing (electric spark, electrolysis, etc.).

1. Classified by processing method

(1) Solid drilling method: the blank has no holes, and the hole is made by drilling

(2) Boring method: with holes, the method used to improve the accuracy of the holes and reduce the surface roughness of the holes

(3) Nesting drilling method; using a hollow drill to drill a hole and a core rod remains in the center of the blank after processing

2. Classified according to the form of exercise

(1) The workpiece rotates and the tool feeds

(2) The workpiece does not move, and the tool rotates and feeds again

(3) When the workpiece rotates, the tool rotates in the opposite direction and then feeds again

(4) The workpiece rotates and feeds, and the tool does not move. This form is rarely used

3. Classified by chip removal method

(1) External chip removal; chips are discharged from the outside of the tool bar. Chips are discharged backward along the outside of the tool shaft, and cutting fluid enters from the inside of the drill pipe

(2) Internal chip removal: Chips are discharged from the inside of the tool shaft, and cutting fluid enters from the inside of the drill pipe

4. Classified by processing system (cooling, chip removal system)

(1) Gun drill system

(2) BTA system

(3) Ejector drilling system

(4) DF system
